Brochure Printing Tips
The type of paper and finish you will choose for your brochure is only as good as the content you put into it. You want to make sure you take time to get the right message across.
- Create curiosity with an eye catching front cover. The front cover needs to persuade the reader to look inside and read on. We recommend you go with the tip, ‘less is more.’ Keep things clean and simple, with concise language to convey the key benefits of your business.
- Break up text with catchy headlines. Headlines will help break up your text but will also allow readers to scan your brochure quickly. How will your services benefit them? Tell them in your headlines.
- Be personable and engaging. Try addressing the reader and stay informal rather than corporate sounding.
- Include unmissable call to actions. You want to tell your reader clearly, what their next step is. Give clear instructions to your website and contact details.
Bleed and Margins
Before printing your brochure it is important you have the correct Bleed and Margins. A full bleed means that your image extends beyond the edge of the page on all four sides.
Why Does Your Brochure Need To Add Bleed?
Once your brochure has been printed, the press sheets will be folded, bound and trimmed. There is a certain margin of error which comes on these finishing steps. A Bleed makes it easier to avoid issues such as these which can be due to mechanical limitations, operator errors and the behaviour of paper.
Generally the bleed amount it set to 3mm. Larger brochures may require a bit more bleed – the bleed requirement will vary from one brochure to another. It’s best to set the bleed before any printing or design as once everything has been finalised, modifying the Bleed can be tricky.
Common Sizes For Brochure Printing
The most common paper sizes for brochure printing are A4, A5 and A3. A4 is probably the most popular when it comes to creating a brochure. In fact, it’s the most used paper size in the world. Designs on an A4 brochure will usually be a folded A3 page – this is why it is important that you consider your bleed and margins before printing.
An A3 brochure will have a greater visual impact compared to smaller sizes. A3 brochures are folded A2 pages and are recommended for brochures with fewer pages. An A3 brochure will give you additional space to get creative with images so can be a great choice for businesses looking to showcase a series of products.
