Green Printing & The Environment

We consider ourselves to be an extremely forward thinking company and we take our commitment to the environment very seriously. We have taken several steps to use green printing methods to reduce our impact upon the environment ensuring that this is another area in which we lead our industry.

Firstly we have adopted an environmental management system which continually monitors our progress, achievements and any failings we may have. It also assists us in building a list of priorities and action plans for us to further diminish our environmental impact.

Our achievements so far include converting our main press to an ‘alcohol free’ damping system, using 100% vegetable based inks for all process applications and taking steps to lessen our energy consumption.

We have achieved the ISO14001 environmental standard and we are committed to further reducing harmful emissions, minimising pollution, conserving energy, recycling waste and to work with suppliers who share our sound environmental philosophies.

As well as assuring that our entire range of house stocks are of the highest quality we establish that they have strong environmental and ethical credentials (either FSC® or PEFC).  We also offer a broad range of recycled paper and board and we are happy to advise upon the most suitable substrate for your application.

Furthermore we have now taken the step of introducing new recycled ranges to our Packaged Print brochure for business cards, letterheads, compliment slips and flyers. We feel that this offers greater choice to our clients and is in line with general buying trends.

Indigo Press are certified for both FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) schemes. This allows us to join the chain of custody for both of these and to use their logos on our clients’ work where appropriate. Paper certified as either FSC® or PEFC ensures that the pulp has been sourced from ecologically, socially and sustainably sound forests and other responsible sources.
